In my opinion, the narrative about his battle with racism wouldn't be as impactful without it. In fact his story wouldn't have been there without it. He did the ritual because of the racism he received from white doctors. It's like saying To Kill a Mockingbird's use of n words should be removed because it is a horrible slur. The whole book is about racism and I think it's important for people to know how much hatred and violence lead to mental health issues of African Americans in the past and now. The whole game isn't simply about horror. It tackles homophobia, PTSD, depression, and racism problems. It was graphic to purposefully to show the hardships of the people in the past (and even what some experience today).

I haven't watched/played the game yet so I don't know what slur was said but I'm sure it's because this was set in 1929, when slurs were commonly used
